ABOUT ME

KNOW ME A LITTLE BETTER

I smile all the time and laugh at almost everything. I drink a lot of coffee and enjoy watching movies with my husband on Friday nights. I love hugging, and I am in love with love. Traveling and discovering new places is what I enjoy the most. It doesn't matter if it means going to the other side of the world or just a few miles outside the city. I like to walk and always carry my camera. I love nature and the calmness it makes me feel.

H

i I'm Karime (but you can call me Kari), and I paint with light. In other words, I am a photographer.

I have always believed that a photo must be shot with intention and honesty to tell the real story of a specific place and time. Photography is about capturing those ephemeral moments in our lives that we don't want to forget by creating memories so we can remember where we were, what it smelled like, and mostly how it felt. That is why I define myself as a moment seeker; I always seek for that look, that touch, and that feeling through my lens.

I live in Guadalajara, Mexico. I studied Design at ITESO university and obtained postgraduate degrees to specialize in interior design.

When I was a little girl, I used to steal my mom's camera and spend her film shooting everything and nothing at the same time. When traveling, everything had to be captured in my album so I could return to those places whenever I wanted. I liked to shoot everything, even the crabs on the stones.

MY STORY

I studied photography and audiovisual arts subjects during my time in Design but always considered it a hobby. It was not until I began to shoot the spaces of the projects I worked on during my eight years as an interior designer that my perception changed. It is still one of my passions, but the reality is that every time I work on a project, I always think about the picture I will take once finished and how the light will affect the space at certain times of the day.

I also started doing product photography and portraits of my friends. Suddenly, I was spending more and more time behind my camera every day so I decided to dedicate to it full time. I started by taking courses and workshops. My life turned 180º, and today I know that it is the best decision I have ever made. And I don't want to sound corny, but it feels great when you finally find something you want to do for the rest of your life.

DON’T shoot WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

SHOOT what it FEELS LIKE.

INSPIRATION

My inspiration comes from feelings, places, things, and much more. It is how I see the world and translate it into photographs.

Traveling, discovering new places, and exploring other cultures are essential for the soul, it helps us open our minds and teaches us to be empathic with those with whom we share this planet. Sometimes I grab a coffee, watch people pass by, and wonder - What are they thinking? What are they living? And above all, what are they feeling? It may sound creepy, but I swear I'm not a stalker. I want to understand. Every person must have a million incredible stories, and I believe they are worth being told. That's why I like to connect with people, not just meet them.

I am also inspired by the little things in life, like seeing the shadows created by the light passing through the leaves of the trees, looking for shapes in the clouds, and smelling a good coffee. I like to admire the colors in the sky, in the plants, in the sunrise, and the sunset. I love the feeling of having beach sand under my feet and the cold of the mountain on my skin.

I love cinema. I am fascinated by their stories but especially obsessed with how they are told. When I watch a movie, I analyze everything from the photography, direction, and sound to the feeling and message in each scene.

My studies in Design and Interior Design have also influenced my style. I have a fascination for decoration and architecture, and I can't help falling in love with art in all its facets, forms, and reproductions, from Da Vinci and Michelangelo to Basquiat and Koons. I love going to art exhibitions with my husband, and whenever we travel to a new city, museums are a must-see stop.

My husband, developer and second photographer

He is Daniel, my husband. He is the best part of my life.
We spend our days working at home and drinking coffee. In the afternoon, we usually take a walk with our dog Kara, read together or watch a movie (did I mention I love movies?). We laugh and talk about a million things - some profound, some not as much- and cook from time to time (not even close to being a master chef, but I'm getting better). And the best of all, he is my second photographer at weddings even though he has his job. He is a software developer - he actually built this website-.

We are better together. When Daniel is shooting with me, we are the best team. He supports me, inspires me, and complements me. A wedding together means double the energy, double the shots, different angles, and different approaches to capturing every moment to tell your story. Believe me when I tell you that having a couple, just like you, documenting your wedding is a super plus!

You probably didn't come to read my story but to check if I'm the right photographer for you. I would love to be, but I know it's not always the case. And it's ok if you're looking for something more traditional! After all, I like to do things my way and create a unique and honest experience for you.

Thanks for trusting me.
